Prof. Mostafa Qrunfleh

Former Minister of Agriculture (2006-2007) and Professor of Horticulture, Dr. Mostafa Qrunfleh received his B.Sc. degree in Horticulture in 1969 from Cairo University, Egypt, M.Sc. degree in Horticulture in 1979 from the University of California, Davis, and Ph.D. degree in Horticulture in 1982 from Kansas State University, USA. 

 

Prof. Qrunfleh joined UJ as an assistant professor at the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science at the Faculty of Agriculture in 1982, where he was subsequently promoted through the ranks.  He held several administrative positions at UJ including Vice-President for Administrative Affairs, and Vice-Dean and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.

 

Dr. Qrunfleh has wide and diverse experience in horticulture and tree fruit physiology (plant hormones, plant growth bioregulators, plant propagation, rootstocks, and nurseries).  He published more than 50 applied and basic articles in international journals, as well as several reports and studies and 5 books. He also participated in more than 40 international conferences, seminars, and workshops.

 

Prof. Qrunfleh served as a UNDP consultant at Dubai Municipality and is a member of a number of national and international societies including the International Society for Horticultural Sciences, Egyptian Horticultural Association and the American Society for Horticultural Sciences.  He also served on several university committees.
