Dr. Amjad Hammad graduated from the University of Jordan (UJ) Medical School in 1993, then he went on to do his Ophthalmology Residency at UJ in 1994-1995. He completed a Transitional Year Residency at Sparrow Hospital / MSU, Lansing, MI, USA, in 1995-1996, then a Neuro-ophthalmology Fellowship at Michigan State University, E. Lansing, MI, USA, in 1996 -1997, and another Ophthalmology Residency at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY, USA, in 1997- 2000. He furthered his specialty with a Vitreo-retinal Fellowship at Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas, USA,  in 2000-2002.
 
Hammad  also earned a Masters degree in Business Management (MBA) from Yale School of Management, New Haven, CT, USA, in 2011. Earning distinctions in economics and operations management.
 
Hammad  has been practicing medicine in New York for most of the past 15 years. Hammad began his profession in a group practice in New York, after which he opened his private practice in Saratoga Springs, New York, in 2007.
 
Dr. Amjad worked as Visiting Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas, San Antonio, Texas (July 2000- March 2002), Director of Vitreo-Retinal Service at Sharif Eye Center, Amman, Jordan, (February 2003- February 2005), Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan, (June 2002- February 2003), Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Albany Medical College, Albany, NY, USA (April 2005- present).
 
Starting January 2007, he is the Medical Director and Owner of Saratoga Vitreo-Retinal Ophthalmology, PLLC, Saratoga Springs, NY. Also he is the co-owner of the New York Eye Surgical Center (October 2011 – Present), Chief Executive Officer of North Country Eye Surgical Center, LLC. Wilton, NY, (February 2011- present), and Adjunct Professor of Business at the School of Management, Union Graduate College, Schenectady, NY (February 2012- present).
 
Dr. Amjad has been certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), American Board of Ophthalmology, and the Jordanian Board of Ophthalmology.
 
Hammad is the President-elect of The New York State Ophthalmological Society, and a member of numerous other associations including the Jordanian Ophthalmological Society. In addition, he is an Associate Examiner and Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
 
Dr. Amjad has a number of publications and has given numerous professional presentations in the US and internationally in Europe and the Middle-East.
