3rd National Down Syndrome Event Concludes at UJ

Under the auspices of the Minister of Social Development, Reem Abu Hassan, the Islamic Cultural Center at The University of Jordan (UJ) on Saturday hosted the closing ceremony of the Third National Down Syndrome Festival.
The event was organized by the representative of Down Syndrome International (DSI) in Jordan Jasmine Association for Children with Down syndrome, and under the slogan "Early Intervention First".

The event’s activities were commenced on March 22, and meant to inform the community on Down syndrome and to raise awareness about the rights of those individuals. The festival also aimed to develop skills and abilities of children with Down syndrome and educate their families on their need for support and care until they are able to exercise social life independently.

Several lectures presented by physicians and educators who specialize in this area took place at the closing ceremony, in addition to an art competition and a face painting activity.
 
The closing ceremony was attended by representatives of specialized rehabilitation centers, concerned parties and a gathering of families and children. Moreover, the ceremony ended with the distribution of shields, appreciation certificates and gifts to supporters, participants and children.
