28 artists from Spain, Germany, France, Morocco, Palestine, Bahrain and Jordan participated in the Sixth International Sculpture Forum held at UJ. The forum is organized once every two years by the
Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and UJ's
Faculty of Arts and Design in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality.
This year, artists used wood in their sculptures, which is available in abundance due to the severe snow storm that struck the region last December and caused damage to hundreds of oak and cypress trees on campus.
The university launched the Cypress Memory Initiative to turn these broken trees into 30 remarkable works of art set in different locations across campus to create an open gallery. The forum is the second phase of this initiative and will increase the number of the sculptures to 50. Notably, 10 UJ students participated in making these sculptures.
