Ismail Wins 2013 Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers for Medical and Health Sciences

Dr. Said Ismail, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, won the 2013 Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers in Medical and Health Sciences (Cancer and Cancer Stem Cells). The Award's Scientific Committee chaired by his Excellency Prof. Wajih Oweis approved the final decision of the committee and named the winners of the 32nd edition of Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers for 2013.

Since it was first launched in 1982, the award was granted to 361 professors and researchers representing 59 universities and institutions in Arab countries. This year, 142 candidates competed in six categories: Medical and Health Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Basic Sciences, Art and Human, Social and Administrative Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Applied Sciences.

Prof. Ismail won the award jointly with Prof. Mahmoud Al Jurf, KSA. The Award was granted to both Ismail and Al Jurf for their extensive scientific work and knowledge in this field of specialty, their publications in refereed academic journals as well as their collaboration with the industrial sector for their researches
