The University of Jordan on Thursday awarded the Saudi Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Khalid ibn Mohammad Al Ankary, an honorary doctorate in Educational Administration.
UJ President, Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh recited the Dean's Council decree to award the degree at the beginning of a ceremony held at the UJ on this occasion.
The award decision stems from UJ's vision in interacting with the international community and to acknowledge the Minister’s contributions to the promotion of mutual relations between Jordan and Saudi Arabia in the fields of higher education, Tarawneh said.
In his speech upon receiving the degree, Al Ankary affirmed his country’s keenness on expanding the higher education sector.
Al Ankary explained that expansion in higher education has witnessed an unprecedented breakthrough to meet the requirements of the labor market.
Al Ankary commended the Jordan-Saudi relationship laid by the leaders of the two brotherly countries, especially in the fields of higher education, pointing to UJ’s role in support of the fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
It noteworthy that since its establishment, UJ has awarded 18 honorary degrees, the first (an honorary doctorate in literature) was awarded to the late King Hussein in 1965. Recently, UJ awarded an honorary doctorate in International Business to Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal.
