Former UJ visiting researcher Ahmet Davutoğlu was recently named Prime Minister of Turkey after having been the Godfather of Turkey's foreign policies for five years as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Davutoğlu who earned his PhD degree in Political Science and International Relations from Boğaziçi University, İstanbul, spent several months at UJ as a visiting researcher where he also learned Arabic.

Davutoğlu visited UJ again in 2009 where he attended the signing ceremony of a protocol between the Turkish Embassy in Amman and The University of Jordan to establish a Bachelor's degree program in Turkish Language and Cultural Studies at UJ.

It is noteworthy to mention that UJ singed several protocols with Turkish universities to exchange students and staff.  In addition, UJ recently held a “Turkish-Jordanian University Presidents and Rectors Forum,” where both sides discussed issues of mutual interest and explored means of furthering the Turkish-Jordanian academic and research cooperation, in particular the facilitation of student and staff exchanges, and the development of joint degree programs.
