UJ Aqaba holds a workshop on Managing the Environmental Sustainability of Ports

The Marine Science Station at The University of Jordan in Aqaba recenlty launched a workshop on Managing the Environmental Sustainability of Ports for a Durable Development.  UJ Aqaba President, Prof. Hani Dmour inaugurated the workshop.

 

Dmour spoke at inauguration about the Marine Science Station, which is managed by both UJ and Yarmouk University, and its contributions to scientific research at the local and global levels.

 

The workshop dealt with marine traffic and the need for managing the environmental sustainability of ports, so as to reduce the harmful consequences for the local population such as air, water and noise pollution due to port activities.

 

The workshop involves participants from Lebanon, Greece, Italy, and Jordan. It also intended to determine technology needed to reduce pollution and ways to improve the quality of life of workers in ports and the local population, in addition to examining issues related to methodologies and procedures in the Mediterranean.

 

The workshop is supported by the University of Genoa (Italy) in partnership with Al-Fayha Union of Municipalities (Lebanon) and Jordan Environment Society (JES).
