JMI Celebrates Graduation of 5th Intake Under Patronage of Princess Rym Ali

HRH Princess Rym Ali on Thursday patronized the graduation of the fifth Intake of Master’s students in Journalism and New Media at the Jordan Media Institute (JMI).

 

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communication and Government Spokesman, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani and veteran Algerian diplomat, al-Akhdar al-Ibrahimi.

 

JMI Dean Prof. Bassim Tweissi spoke at the ceremony explaining that  the program’s curriculum has been developed and constantly revised on the foundations of the freedom of expression, respect for the mind, and the right to dissent and access to knowledge.

 

Tweissi added that during the past year the institute witnessed the endorsement of a four-year strategy that includes a sub-plan to enhance the program’s quality and expand in admission, noting that JMI has launched a thesis track of the Master’s program in Journalism and New Media.

 

Tweissi also thanked Princess Rym Ali, JMI’s founder, for the time and effort her highness offers to the institute.

 

In turn, al-Akhdar al-Ibrahimi, the ceremony’s main speaker, said the media plays an important role in the dissemination of knowledge to people.

 

Al-Ibrahimi noted that the fourth power proved to be a key element in the ongoing conflicts of the world.

 

Student  Mohammed Dwayreg said the institute is a considered a leading media education provider and contributed to the development of professional journalistic standards.

 

At the end of the ceremony, Her Highness handed the certificates to the graduates accompanied by UJ President Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh and JMI Dean Tweissi, in the presence of a number media and political figures and the students’ families.
