UJ President : 8000 Admitted to UJ this Year

Eight thousand students have been accepted into UJ for the 2014-15 academic year, UJ President, Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh announced during the new first-year students’ meeting.

 

Tarawneh declared that 1700 students were also admitted to UJ within the parallel program, emphasizing UJ’s pursuit to create an appropriate learning environment for students, including the provision of competent faculty and high standard infrastructure “despite having limited resources”.

 

Displaying UJ’s new and future trends particularly its quest to become a world class university in the fields of quality of higher education, Tarawneh pointed out that UJ has achieved advanced levels in international rankings and seeks to become among top 500 universities worldwide.

 

Moreover, Tarawneh urged the new students to view UJ’s laws and regulations and participate actively in extra-curricular activities organized at the university.

 

Stressing the importance of engaging students in community service, the president explained that the Initiatives Office highly contributes to promoting a culture of volunteerism among UJ students.

 

Speaking about UJ’s recent decision to raise tuition fees of the parallel and postgraduate programs, he indicated that the university was forced to do so due to the increasing higher education costs.

 

At the end of the meeting, which was attended by UJ Vice - Presidents and deans, Tarawneh  replied to students' queries dealt mostly with aspects of academic life at UJ.
