With deep sorrow and profound grief, The University of Jordan mourns the loss of Ahmad Al Lozi who passed away Tuesday after a lifetime of dedication and achievements.
UJ President Prof Ekhleif Tarawneh expressed deep sorrow for the loss of Al Lozi and recalled the deceased’s great contributions and achievements.
Al Lozi spent more than 70 years in serving the country in various fields. The deceased is a pioneer of the university and played a prominent role in its progress and development, Tarawneh said.
The President extended his condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Al Lozi, praying to Allah Almighty to bestow His mercy and eternal peace upon him and grant his family patience and consolation.
Al Lozi was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in political sciences in recognition of his attributes to the political scene in Jordan.
Al Lozi assumed several senior government posts, heading the government after the death of former prime minister Wasfi Tal in 1971.
He was named a member of the Board of Trustees of The University of Jordan during the years (1971-1976), then chairman of the board during the periods (1980 – 1985) and (2000 - 2012).
In 2012, His Majesty King Abdullah tasked him to head the Royal committee on revisiting the Constitution.
