UJ Ranked Eighth Regionally, Eight Points Away from Top 500 World Universities

With firm steps towards becoming a world class university, UJ has achieved one more exemplary performance amongst around 1000 HE institutions.

 

Published for the first time in 2014, the QS University Rankings for the Arab Region recently ranked UJ in the eighth place.

 

This ranking has been developed to reflect priorities and challenges for universities in the region and depends on nine indicators: Academic Reputation (30%), Employer Reputation (20%), Faculty Student Ratio (20%), Web Impact ( 10%), Proportion of Staff with PhD (5%), Citations Per Paper ( 5%), Papers Per Faculty (5%), Proportion of International Faculty (2.5%), and Proportion of International Students ( 2.5% ).

 

The results show that UJ was ranked (15) on the Academic Reputation, (10) on the Employer Reputation, (51+) on the Faculty Student Ratio, (17) on Proportion of Staff with PhD indicator, (27) on the Papers Per Faculty, (51+) on the Citation Per Paper, (51+) on the Proportion of International Faculty, (49) on the Proportion of International Students, and (8) on the Web Impact indicators.

 

At the global level, UJ is just eight points away from becoming among the Top 500 universities worldwide, according to the results of the 2014/2015 QS World University Rankings announced last September.  

 

QS University Rankings for the Arab Region 2014, was launched at a 10th QS Apple conference and exhibition that was held in Taiwan during the period 11-13 November 2014. UJ Vice-President for Scientific Research and Quality, Prof. Mohammad W. Batsh represented UJ at the conference.
