The Islamic Cultural Center (ICC) at UJ organized a seminar entitled "No for Smoking”, in a bid to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco among students.
The seminar also, according to ICC Director Dr. Adnan Assaf, aims to inform the students on how Islam views tobacco use.
Dr. Ahmad Imran, Iftaa’ Department, said that Islam forbids cigarette smoking with proofs from the Quran and Sunnah.
Dr. Madi Al Jaghbir from UJ’s Faculty of Medicine said smoking causes many serious diseases, including cardiovascular diseases and cancers of all types.
Al Jaghbir pointed out that Jordan is ranked 27th worldwide in cigarettes consumption, according to studies conducted by competent authorities.
