The Psychology Department at the Faculty of Arts on Sunday held its 9th annual scientific day under the theme: “Terrorist extremism from a psychological perspective”.

The department choose this theme due to the fact that terrorism is an act of violence that has its own psychological “inputs”, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Abatah Daher said.

The annual event, according to Chairman of Psychology Department Prof. Muhammad Bni Younis , aims to provide students with communication, planning, and organization skills and translate them into a productive behavior.

The event comprised of three sessions; the second session incorporated the lunch of Dr. Fares Helmi Jaber’s latest book, while the third session discussed research papers submitted by students to a contest organized by the Department on "extremism and terrorism”.

This year’s event was held with the support of the Rawabi Medical Journal, Dr. Mohamed Al Dabbas Psychiatric Clinic, Kalema CBT Center, and Al Yaqadha Library.

Founded in 1962, the Department of Psychology has over 380 undergraduate students, and 20 graduate students in the Master’s program.
