Eight innovative projects by engineering students at UJ have been selected as winners at the 8th National Technology Parade (NTP), which was hosted by UJ on April 29, 2015.
50 teams representing 15 Jordanian universities competed to win 27 prizes under nine tracks. Three prizes were allocated for each track.
The highest participation rate was by UJ, as 13 of the participating projects were by UJ students.
The 8th NTP focused on the role of technology in improving the quality of life.
Mechanical Engineering students Mohamed Sobhi, Salah al-Hourani, Anas al-Far and Lilian al-Khatib, supervised by Dr. Ahmad Sakhreih, won the first place in the Green and Sustainable Technologies track for their project “Waste Heat Recovery”. while students Hind Sabra, Moyad Alawneh and Alya Sulaimat, supervised by Dr. Raad Al Zoubi, won the 2nd place in the same category for their project “Solar Cells: Study, Analysis and Design”.
Electrical Engineering students Ahmed Ayyad, Musab Awad, Shehab Jamoose, and Abdullah al-Shamali, supervised by Dr. Ghazi Al Sukkar, won the 1st place in the Gaming and Entertainment track for their project “Designing a Laser Tag Game with Smartphone Applications Integration”.
A team, consisting of students Ahmed Kataneh, Mustafa Zghoul, Osama Suleiman and Shady Gbon, supervised by Mohammed Zeki Khedher, came in the 2nd place in the Public Safety and Quality of Life category, for their project “Design of a Smart Home for Smart Grid”.
The project “3-Axis CNC PCB Router” came in the 2nd place at the Industrial Technologies track. The project is prepared by Industrial Engineering students Fares al-Sabe’ and Shadi Awad and supervised by Dr. Jamal Rahal.
Computer Engineering students Malak Barari, Zain Tameh, and Jannah al-Emaishat supervised by Dr. Ramzi Saifan won the first place in the Business and Social Technologies category for their project “Efficient Gas Distribution in Jordan”. While Dima Hamidah and Noor Ghasan, supervised by Dr. Andraws Swidan, received the third place prize of the Educational and E-Learning Technologies track for their project “Scientific Virtual Lab”.
The “Low-cost-Speech-operated Electric Wheelchair” project by Isra’ Yasin, Iman Khalil, supervised by Dr. Ghaith Abandah, received the third place prize in the Innovations and Technologies for People with Disabilities track.
