University of Jordan news – dean of the scientific research in the University of Jordan Dr Abeer Albawab recently participated in “ethical controls in the practice of chemistry, according to standards of the convention on the prohibition of chemical weapons” workshop. Held by the OPCW “organization for the prohibition of chemical weapon (OPCW)” in the Netherlands.
The participation of Albawab as well as the representatives from universities and chemical scientific association and representatives of the chemical industry sector in order to review the outlines of chemical sciences practice that have been placed in the workshop at March.
The workshop discussed the leading role played by workers in the sector in adapting the ethical principles for dealing with chemicals under international conventions and UN resolutions concerning the prohibition of chemical weapons.
The two –day workshop, which included ten sessions, are the first step in the long path to output the basic elements of the chemical weapons convention and the ethical controls to work in the sector.
