UJ President Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh received in his office on Wednesday, February 10, a delegation comprising representatives of the Jerusalem Charitable Society.

The delegation commended President Tarawneh’s efforts and noble stances towards Palestine and its people, as well as for his constant support for the Jerusalemite students.

In appreciation and gratitude for the President’s decisions and endeavors to support Jerusalem and Jerusalemite students, the delegation presented Tarawneh with an Honorary shield.

From his part, Tarawneh priced this honoring; pointing out that UJ carries upon itself the obligation to revive  and support the Jerusalem issue.

UJ has a history of supporting Jerusalem and its students. It offers a JD10,000 award to the best PhD thesis written on Jerusalem, and Jerusalem students pay tuition fees equal to those paid by Jordanians.

Tarawneh announced November 29 to be UJ’s annual day for solidarity with Jerusalem.

The University has a special section on Jerusalem in the University Library and the Center for Documentation and Manuscripts, and added a special course on Jerusalem to UJ’s curriculum.

The University established with Al Quds University and the Munib R. Masri Development Foundation (MDF) – the Jerusalem Endowment Fund to collect donations and support the holy city in response to the Israeli assaults.
