Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences Dr. Nihad Al-Masri said on Sunday that the School has taken steps to develop the occupational therapy program in line with international accreditation standards.
"This is part of the program's thrust to turn out professionals who meet the demands of the society and labor market," Al-Masri added during an event held at the School to mark the 100-year anniversary of the Occupational Therapy profession and the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the first degree program in Occupational Therapy in Jordan.
Chairwomen of the Occupational Therapy Department Dr. Somaya Malkawi said April is Occupational Therapy Month, adding that every year the School marks the occasion with a variety of events to highlight the importance of the discipline.
The event included a lecture by Dr. Farzaneh Yazdani from Oxford Brooks University, theatrical performances on the history of occupational therapy by students, a video on the achievements of the department and poster presentations by fourth-year students.
The event was attended by representatives of the Royal Medical Services, and Ministry of Health, as well as faculty from the Hashemite University and Jordan University of Science and Technology.
