Former PM Abdelraouf Al-Rawabdeh Lectures at UJ

Former PM Abdelraouf Al-Rawabdeh delivered a lecture at the University of Jordan on Monday in which he displayed the history and geography of Jordan, beginning from 2000 BC continuing up to the formation of the Emirate of Transjordan.
 
In his lecture Al-Rawabdeh spoke about Jordan's elements of power and legitimacy, of which are that the Hashemites are descendants of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) and the holders of the legacy of Great Arab Revolt, the tolerance and acceptance policy, and the ability to open up prospects for dialogue with all parties.
 
Also addressing Jordan's foreign policy towards the Palestinian cause, Rawabdeh read a detailed historical account of the role the Hashemites undertook to serve the cause and protect its Interests, starting from the first phases of the Palestinian struggle, the 1949 Armistice Agreements, the Arab League's decisions and positions on this matter, 1950s and 1960s turbulence in Jordan, the 1973 - Ramadan War, and the disengagement from the West Bank to the present time.
 
The lecture, which was moderated by UJ President Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, ended with questions and an open discussion with the attendants.
 
The lecture was attended by a number of ambassadors, academics, government officials, staff member, students and a crowd of interested citizens.
