QS Ranks UJ Among Top 2% of World Universities

The University of Jordan (UJ) has been ranked among the top 2.1% universities worldwide, and in the top 551 – 600 universities in the newly released 2017/18 QS World University Rankings.

QS Rankings are based on academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, student-to-faculty ratio, proportion of international faculty, and proportion of international students.

UJ also ranked in the 390th place worldwide in terms of academic reputation, advancing 112 positions from last year, and moved up 63 positions to the 267th place in terms of employer reputation.

According to the new report, the amount of scientific research published by UJ in the database of the international journals Scopus in the period 2011-2015 increased by 4.1% compared to the period 2010-2014, and the number of citations per faculty in the period 2011-2016 increased by 56% compared to the period 2010-2014.

With an overall ranking of first place in Jordan, UJ was ranked top institution in 4 categories: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, and international faculty.

UJ President Prof. Azmi Mahafzah commended the progress, confirming UJ's keenness to continue to improve its educational plans, enhance use of technology, and increase scientific research output.

QS is an annual ranking of the top 1,000 universities in the world and is considered one of the top three higher education rankings in the world in terms of importance and impact, along with the rankings of Times Higher Education and the Shanghai Rankings.
