Four Agreement Signed to Support Applied Research Projects

Four agreements were inked Tuesday between the University of Jordan (UJ) and Abdul Hameed Shoman Scientific Research Support Fund.
 
The agreements were signed by UJ President Prof. Azmi Mahafzah and Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation (AHSF) CEO Valentina Qussisiya.
 
The objective of the agreements is to provide research funding for a number of significant applied research projects at UJ.
The first agreement is intended to support a research project titled, "Detection of plant bacterial diseases caused by Xylella fastidiosa in Jordan" led by Dr. Nehaya AlKarablieh from Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research, with the participation of Dr. Ibtihal Abu Obeid.
 
The second agreement comes to support a research titled, "Comparative anti-proliferative effects of potential LSD1 inhibitors on a panel of cancer cell lines", conducted  by researcher Heba Zalloum from Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research and co-researcher Dr. Walid Youssef Zalloum.
 
However, the third agreement is meant to support Cell Theraby Center Researcher Dr. Hanan Jaafar in her project "Mesenchymal stem cells as a therapeutic approach for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy", conducted with the participation of Prof. Abdullah Awaidi Abadi and Dr. Sofia Adwan.
 
Whereas, the fourth agreement is aimed at providing fund for a research project on the "discovery of small molecule stabilizers for the reduced form of Angiotensinogen as a potential treatment of pre-eclampsia using molecular dynamics-based virtual screening and in vitro validation", by Dr. Lina Dahabiyeh from the School of Pharmacy, and her co-researchers Dr. Mutasem Al Hawamdeh and Dr. Shereen Aleidi.  
 
Established in 1999, Abdul Hameed Shoman Scientific Research Support Fund supports applied scientific research that has an added value and conducted by researchers in Jordan, and encourages scientific research contributions within Higher Education and Scientific Institutions as well as collaborative research between international and national research centers.
