Al Qudah Honors Abu-Hammour on Winning King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance

Dr. Khawla Abu-Hammour, Director of the Pharmacy Department at the University of Jordan Hospital, won the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency in the category of the Distinguished Government Leader / Supervisory Officer at its eighth session (2016/2017).


UJ President, Prof. AbdelKarim Al Qudah, honored Abu-Hammour for winning the prestigious award. This award is given for individuals who have will power and dedication in raising the levels of services give for clients and improving the performance in governmental institutes. He also said that this achievement will be added to the University’s record.

Abu-Hammour said that the award was given to 143 employees of various governmental institutes, pointing out that 7 of them won this award, which is subject to evaluation based on criteria that focuses on documented achievements during the work and study phases. She added that she has research and approved studies published in international journals in the field of clinical pharmacy. She stressed that the health sector is still in need of research to contribute to the strengthening of education and service.


It is noteworthy to mention that Abu-Hmmour received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the UJ with distinction and a PhD in clinical pharmacy from Queen's University Belfast in 2012. She joined the Department of Pharmacy at the University Hospital in 1997 and was appointed Director of this department in 2004. Dr. Khawla joined the academic work at the School of Pharmacy at the University in 2015.
