Seminar Explores Fourth Industrial Revolution, Future of Higher Education in Jordan

The University of Jordan (UJ) Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) organized a seminar on the "Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Future of Higher Education in Jordan".
 
The seminar was delivered by Professor of Electrical Engineering at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Dr. Abdullah Yousif Al-Zoubi.
 
Al-Zoubi began his lecture with a historical overview of the successive industrial revolutions and their impact on human beings and countries, and their implications in the formation of human life.
 
He also explained that industrial revolutions have coincided with a huge increase in the world's population that caused a depletion of natural resources.
 
Al-Zoubi referred to the concept of Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR); its instruments, technological elements, characteristics and their impact on the economy, higher education and universities.
 
Al-Zoubi explained during the lecture stages of the development of education and universities across the ages, stressing the need to develop the mentality and approach in the management of higher education in Jordan by engrossing technological developments and their suitability to the nature of the state and its needs.
 
CSS Director Prof. Musa Shteiwi, in his opening address, said that the Fourth Industrial Revolution has become a reality on the international level. He added that it has been affecting changes in the economy of many countries, in addition to becoming a decisive force in the economy and social development.
