Patronized by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Jordan (UJ) Prof. Adnan Badran, the annual Scientific Day of the School of Arts convened under the theme: "Social Media Platforms and the Living Reality".

 

In his opening address, Badran spoke about the advantages of social networks in education and e-learning. He also pointed to some of the disadvantages of using social media on human interaction and face-to-face communication.
 
For his part, Dean of the School Prof. Mohammad Al-Qudah stressed the importance of utilizing social media to debate current issues without violating ethics, laws and regulations, in addition to refraining from hate speech.

 

The program of the day included four discussion papers dealt mainly with the impact of social media in times of crisis, social media platforms and their role in tourism, and the negative effects of social networking sites and their repercussions on the Arabic language.

 

The event was attended by UJ President Prof. Abdul Karim Al-Qudah, Dean of the School of Arts, and a crowed of academic and students.
