5,000 Syrian students in Jordan’s higher education institutions — AAU

The number of Syrian students who enrolled Jordan’s higher education institutions is estimated at 5,000 students, Assistant Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities (AAU) Abdul Rahim Hunaiti said on Wednesday.

Hunaiti’s made his remarks during a meeting with stakeholders in the project of supporting the education of Syrian refugee students, which is run in cooperation with Erasmus Plus programme, funded by the European Commission.

Significant allocations in the general budget were set to support Syrian and other refugee students, Petra reported, as Hunaiti underlined that the AAU, in cooperation with Jordanian and Arab higher education institutions, will continue to support Syrian students.

According to a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Jordan hosts about 1.3 million refugees, out of which 665,000 are refugees registered with the UN. The regional project includes Lebanon, Iraqi Kurdistan and Jordan in cooperation with Turkey, Germany and the Union of Mediterranean Universities.
