The University of Jordan (UJ) continues to top Jordanian universities, and ranks 9th out of 1157 Arab universities in the newly released edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World University.
The results show that the University moved up 78 places to the 1147 position in the list of 28580 universities and colleges worldwide.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain.
The Lab is devoted to the quantitative analysis of the Internet and Web contents especially those related to the processes of generation and scholarly communication of scientific knowledge.
The ranking relies on four indicators: impact, presence, openness and excellence.
UJ's Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center indicated that the University ranked 44th worldwide and fourth in the Arab world in terms of website size and richness of its content.
In terms of scientific research, which constitutes 45% of the marks of this ranking, UJ ranked 816th globally and 12th in the Arab world in terms of the impact of its researchers, and 1284th globally and 27th in the Arab world in terms of the number of influential scientific research published for the period 2013-2017.
