UJ Professor Wins Abdul Hameed Shoman Arab Researchers Award

The University of Jordan (UJ) distinguished professor of applied mathematics Shaher Al-Momani has been recently awarded the Abdul Hameed Shoman Arab Researchers Award for the 2019 in the basic Sciences field.

 

Prof. Al-Momani received the Shoman Award for Mathematical Modeling jointly with professor of applied mathematics and computational science at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, Omar Knio.

 

The number of candidates for this year's award has reached 382, 23 applications were excluded due to non-compliance with the basic conditions of the award. 15 scholars have received awards in 6 fields; each field is divided into two themes that are selected by the scientific committee of the award.

 

This award aims to recognize Arabic researchers and experts in various scientific and research fields. Also it aims to contribute to the support of Arab scientific research and its diffusion to increase scientific knowledge and to spread the culture of scientific research.

 

The award covers the following six disciplines: medical and health sciences; engineering sciences; basic sciences; humanities, social and educational sciences; technological and agricultural sciences; and economic and administrative sciences.
