THE Rankings Representatives, Jordanian Universities Presidents Meet at UJ

The University of Jordan (UJ) in cooperation with the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI), hosted a meeting with representatives of The Times Higher Education Rankings to discuss matters related to international and Arab rankings.


During the meeting, which was attended by representatives of 28 public and private universities in Jordan, Duncan Ross, Data and Analytics Director at the Times Higher Education, presented a brief explanation of the classification; its criteria and global branches, the Arab ranking of universities, and the most important foundations on which it is based.

Moreover, Ross reviewed the status of the Jordanian universities in the Arab University Rankings, in which UJ ranked first locally and 22nd in the Arab world, explaining the differences between the international and Arab rankings in terms of standards and results.

An extensive discussion on how to develop scientific research and Journals issued in Arabic also took place at the meeting; how private universities can enter the rankings, the international aspect of criteria and the development of foundations for attracting international students, how to measure academic and research reputation of universities, and the extent of differences between Jordanian universities.
