The University of Jordan (UJ) ranked first locally, ninth in the Arab world and among the top 6% universities worldwide, according to Webometrics ranking of world universities.

The university ranked 734 worldwide, advancing 50 positions from last issue.

This Ranking Web, which ranked 31,000 educational institutions from more than 200 countries, is issued in January and July of each year.

The Ranking aims to promote Web publication, support open access initiatives, and electronic access to scientific publications and academic material, focusing on the quality and quantity of the contents of the university's web pages.

The ranking is based on a composite indicator that takes into account both the volume of the Web content (number of web pages and files) and the visibility and impact of these web publications based on the number of external in links (site citations) they received.

The Webometrics ranking of universities has been published since 2004 by the Cybermetrics Lab, a Madrid-based research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
