The University of Jordan (UJ) President Prof. Abdel Karim Al-Qudah received in his office the Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister of National Security of Singapore, Teo Chee Hean, and an accompanying delegation to discuss ways to expand cooperation with the University.

The delegation included the Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry Tan Wu Meng, and senior officals from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis).

During the meeting, that was attended by UJ Vice President for Humanities Faculties Affairs Prof. Ahmad Majdoubeh and Vice President for Scientific Faculties Affairs Prof. Zaid Baqain and Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Prof. Adnan Al-Assaf, the continuation of the discussions on establishing the Islamic studies college in Singapore.

Welcoming the guest and the accompanying delegation, Al-Qudah presented a brief introduction about UJ and its achievements on the local and international levels. He pointed out that the University has been maintaining close academic and cultural relations with the Singaporean side, expressing willingness to welcome more Singaporean students at UJ and to expand the exchange of academic experience between the two sides.

After returning thanks for the good reception, Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister stressed the depth of the relations between the two countries and the significance of this visit to the joint concern to continue this cooperation. He referred to the positive impressions that the Singaporean students who studied at the University brought back to their country.

The guest and the delegation also visited the School of Sharia and toured its departments accompanied the Vice President for Humanities Faculties Affairs and the Dean of the School who, in turn, presented the School’s departments and programs, and its vision to convey the tolerant message of Islam and adopt the principles and contents of the Amman Message.

The delegation attended a lecture at the School and engaged in a dialogue with some students.
