The University of Jordan (UJ) President Professor Nathir Obeidat met in his office on Sunday with the team of the USAID Preservice Teacher Education in Jordan Program.

Obeidat stressed the importance of training and empowering teachers and providing them with skills that improve educational outcomes, noting the UJ's willingness to provide all means of support to contribute to the implementation of the program and achieve its goals.

In his turn, program director Dr. Cameron Mirza said that the program prepares aspiring teachers to become certified educators equipped with essential knowledge and skills to deliver a high-quality learning experience for students.

The program attracts students and graduates of baccalaureate in science, mathematics, Arabic and English who want to work as teachers, with the aim to increase capacity to train teachers in order to sustainably increase the total number of fully qualified grade 4–10 teachers across Jordan.

It is worth mentioning that the USAID program is implemented in three universities other than UJ; Mu’tah University, The Hashemite University and Yarmouk University.
