Dmour: (UJ Aqaba) to establish Extension and Continuing Education Office

The President of the University of Jordan in Aqaba, Prof. Hani Dmour said the University will be establishing an Office for counseling and continuing education in the Aqaba branch.
 
The Office aims to provide specialized training courses and vocational diploma programs in all of the administrative, economic and technical aspects, given that some training programs will open after Eid al-Fitr holiday, of those are languages, computer skills and professional diploma programs in tourism and import and export.
 
Dmour explained that the University will begin studying the training needs through coordination with business enterprises to identify the needs of those institutions and Aqaba in general for training programs.

A vocational diploma program in shipping management will be launched in cooperation with the Arab Bridge Maritime Company and Airport Management Program, he added.

According to Dmour, the branch has the intention to launch Arabic language program to speakers of other languages, targeting foreigners working in different sectors in Aqaba, in addition to an educational program for the rehabilitation of teachers in the city and the surrounding areas.

Dmour stressed that these programs are geared towards bachelor's degree holders, especially unemployed ones.
Dmour referred to the University's collaboration with the private sector in the city to build housing for students who come from other governorates and the surrounding Arab states.

The city of Aqaba, which is witnessing rapid shifts in its economic structure, investment, tourism and education, is a priority in the development of investment programs offered by the University, He said.

Moreover, UJ plans to develop a number of projects in collaboration with the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), such as the establishment of a marine aquarium, fish-breeding project and Fossil sites preservation project.
