JRMS hospitals to provide medical care for UJ-Aqaba staff and students

The University of Jordan (UJ) and the Jordanian Royal Medical Services (JRMS) on Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement to provide medical care for the staff and students of the University of Jordan branch in Aqaba in hospitals affiliated with the Royal Medical Services.
 
The agreement was signed on behalf of UJ by its president, Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh and the Royal Medical Services Director Maj. Gen. Doctor Khalaf Al Sarhan.
 
The agreement is considered a base for mutual scientific cooperation and joint medical partnership, particularly with regards to UJ’s plans to establish a Medical school in Aqaba.
 
Under the agreement, the Royal Medical Services hospitals are to provide medical services to beneficiaries of the staff and students of the university’s branch in Aqaba. Medical services include clinical and laboratory tests, x-ray and all that is needed to diagnose the patient's condition, in addition to surgical and medical procedures, dental treatment and medication.
 
The agreement excluded a number of cases, such as work-related injuries, cosmetic treatment and the fertility treatments, prostheses and supporting medical devices, and Organ transplantation outside Jordan, treatment of physical injuries, accidents and diseases caused by alcohol, drugs and others.
 
Tarawneh said that the agreement was to provide care and support for faculty and students and the administrative branch of the university umbrella integrated health, praising what he owned the Royal Medical Services and the level of high professional reputation in providing all types of medical services.
 
Maj. Gen. Al Sarhan expressed similar views about scientific and medical cooperation with UJ, particularly joining cooperation on the establishment of a Medical school in Aqaba.
 
Al Sarhan reviewed medical services provided to citizens in remote areas following the royal directives, referring to the role of Prince Hashim hospital, which was inaugurated recently in Aqaba, in providing medical and health services for the people of Aqaba and the surrounding areas.
 
The signing ceremony was attended by UJ Vice-Presidents, Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, and Prof. Mohammad Batsh, as well as the Director of the Health Care Department at the university, Dr. Naif Alabdallat and a number of senior officials at the Royal Medical Services.
