Journalist and human rights activist Rana Husseini delivered a lecture at the University of Jordan (UJ) on Sunday on "Women's rights violations and honor Killings".

The meeting was organized by the School of Nursing to mark the occasion of International Women's Day.

Husseini spoke about issues facing women in Arab and western societies in general and the Jordanian society in particular.

She also brought up the various shapes of discrimination against women, most notably crimes committed against women in the name of honor, explaining the judicial and legal aspects of this issue.

Offering some statistical data on violation incidents against women, Husseini pointed to a number of recommendations that could have the greatest impact in reducing these crimes and violations.

At the end of the lecture, which was coordinated by Dr. Hala Bawadi and Dr. Iman Abu Sabah, Husseini responded to questions and comments raised by the participants.
