Kazakh Ambassador to Jordan Azamat Berdibay on Monday delivered a lecture at the University of Jordan (UJ) on "Kazakhstan in Modern World”.

 

The event was organized by Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II School of International Studies and attended by a crowd of students and faculty members.

 

Berdibay said that both countries share a common perspective on interfaith dialogue, reconciliation, ethnic and religious tolerance, and peaceful coexistence of the followers of all faiths in the Middle East.

 

According to the ambassador, the two countries believe that the solution to problems can be found through interaction between religions and world communities.  

 

The ambassador stated that Kazakhstan's initiative to convene the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions was in harmony with the Amman Message, constituting a platform for promoting constructive dialogue between civilizations and religions and promoting a world based on principles of tolerance and human values.

 

He said that the participation of His Majesty King Abdullah in the 5th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in June 2015, is a clear message given to the international society that, if there are joint efforts made by political and religious leaders, challenges can be addressed effectively.

 

Concerning bilateral relations, Berdibay pointed out that they have witnessed a remarkable development, owing to the political will of the leaderships of the two countries.

 

He referred that in February 2018, the two states will celebrate 25 years of diplomatic relations, began with the signing a Protocol on the Establishment of Relations on February 9, 1993 in Almaty, during the first official visit of a Jordanian delegation to the country headed by HRH Prince Zeid Bin Raad.

 

Ambassador Berdibadi also spoke about the Astana Peace Process aiming at settling the situation in Syria.

 

On the Palestinian issue, Berdibadi said that Kazakhstan has a clear and consistent position on the Middle East peace process based on the two-state solution approach: a sovereign, independent, viable and united State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living within secure and recognized borders, side by side in peace with Israel.

 

Regarding Kazakhstan's economy, the Ambassador displayed details about his country's economic and trade development processes, including past achievements, targets, and future ambitious goals.
