Winners of Ali Mango and Samia Mango Awards 2017 Announced

The Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research (HMCSR) at the University of Jordan (UJ) announced the winners of the 2017 Ali Mango Award for Distinguished Researcher and Samia Mango Award for Distinguished Women Researcher.
 
The winners were recognized at a ceremony held during the inauguration of the Center’s 8th Scientific Day, on Thursday, April 26.
 
UJ professor of e-Business Dr. Hossam Fares won the Ali Mango award in the Basic Sciences and Information Technology category, while Dr. Rana Abu Farha from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Applied Sciences took home the award in the Pharmacy, Dentistry and Rehabilitation Sciences category.
 
The Graduate Students category of the award was given to Dr. Sherien Arabyat, a PhD student at the UJ School of Pharmacy.
The Samia Mango Award went to UJ Professor Ghadeer Isaifan who is a faculty member at the School of Pharmacy. 
 
HMCSR Director Dr. Yasser Al-Bastanji delivered a speech in which he affirmed the importance of scientific research as the cornerstone of national development and growth, stressing HMCSR's contribution towards a positive research culture in Jordan.
 
Activities featured during the event included lectures, student contests, and an exhibition showcased products and services of major pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturing firms.
 
HMCSR is a multidisciplinary research center devoted to conducting, supporting, and encouraging different fields of scientific research and transforming it to applied science and engineering projects.  It seeks to narrow the gap between academia and industry by facilitating and promoting cooperation between the two sectors and providing a platform for joint projects.
