The School of Medicine at the University of Jordan (UJ) on Thursday held its First Scientific Day under the patronage of UJ President Prof. Abdull karim Al Qudah.
The event geared at presenting the graduation projects of sixth-year students.
"Engaging students in research and encouraging them to participate in research projects and provide means of support for them is crucial for the University," said Al Qudah at the opening ceremony.
Al Qudah indicated that holding scientific days across UJ's schools is important in developing faculty - student interaction and keeping abreast of developments in various disciplines.
Dean of the School of Medicine Prof. Aslam Massad said that the Scientific Day is designed to highlight 6th year student research outputs and to provide opportunities for them to work on their presentation and communication skills.
At the event, which was attended by UJ vice presidents, deans and teaching staff, 400 final year students were offered the chance to highlight their 139 research papers, of which 69 were published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
In addition, 123 poster presentations and 16 lectures were delivered during the day.
On the sidelines of the event, President Al Qudah handed the University shields for the students whose research were published in peer-reviewed academic journals, as well as faculty members supervising their work.
