WEEC Holds Workshop to Launch RESERVOIR Project

The Water, Energy and Environment Center (WEEC) at the University of Jordan (UJ) on Thursday held a one-day workshop to introduce the new project: "Sustainable groundwater RESources managEment by integrating eaRth observation deriVed monitoring and flOw modelling Results".
 
The RESERVOIR project is implemented by UJ in partnership with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature represented by the Azraq Wetlands Reserve and a number of universities and research centers in Italy, Spain and Turkey, with the support of the European Union (EU) and within the framework of The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA).
 
The project aims to deliver new products and services for a sustainable management of groundwater resources, developed and tested - at this stage - in four water-stressed Mediterranean countries (Italy, Spain, Turkey and Jordan) and then applied in other regions, using a holistic integrated approach; taking into account social, economic and environmental aspects. 
 
The workshop was attended by representatives from the Ministries of Water, Irrigation, Environment, Agriculture and Tourism, the Water Authority of Jordan, Miyahuna Company And the Jordanian Engineers and Geologists Associations.
 
The workshop aimed to present the project to the implementing partners and stakeholders and explain the objectives and stages of the project.
