Three University of Jordan (UJ) accounting students gained first place in the KPMG Jordan Accounting Competition for universities in Jordan held on October 25 at Princess Sumaya University of Technology.
The students, Gahdeer Zu'bi, Ghadeer Okaili and Rania Majali, defeated competitors from 11 Jordanian public and private universities.
Prof. Ghaleb Abu Rumman, Chairman of the Accounting Department, and the team's advisor, said "the team showed high professional skill levels and definitely deserved the win".
Students were given a case and had to research and prepare a presentation, the case included questions tackled several divisions of accounting, such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, and cost accounting, in addition to international accounting standards, International Standards on Auditing, tax accounting, business legislation and others.
The second and third places went, respectively, to the teams of the Hashemite University (HU) and Al-Zaytoonah University.
The winners were announced in a special ceremony attended by Sentator Jawad Hadidi, deputizing for HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan.
