UJ Student Joins CERN Summer Student Programme

Undergraduate student of Physics at UJ Dana A. Douqa took off to Geneva, Switzerland, to take part at the summer student programme of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

 

This is the first time that a UJ student has been selected for the programme, which attracts  applicants from all over the world.

 

The programme is for a period of approximately two months. During the programme, participants will work with experimental teams and attend a series of lectures. Visit to accelerators and experimental areas, discussion sessions, workshops and a poster session are also part of the enriching programme.

 

"It is a great pleasure to represent UJ at CERN” said Douqa. “My professors, Prof. Sami Mahmoud and Dr. Hanan Sa’adeh were incredibly supportive and encouraged me to apply” Douqa added.

 

In turn Sa’adeh commended Douqa, who is according to her is the top student in her class.

 

Founded in 1952 with the mandate of establishing a world-class fundamental physics research organization in Europe, CERN laboratory sits astride the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva and has 21 member states.
