UJ Wins third Jordanian Mathematics Olympiad

A team from the Department of Mathematics at the School of Science consisting of four students; Bilal al-Mutbakani, Majed al-Salman, Wazen Musleh, and Du'aa 'Abd won first place in the third Jordanian Mathematics Olympiad for universities. This tournament was held at The Hashemite University with the participation of 12 Jordanian public and private universities.

 

Dr. Murad Abdul Jabbar Ahmed, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University, and the students' supervisor in this tournament expressed his happiness in his team’s accomplishment.


Ahmad emphasized that several factors contributed to their winning, firstly, the moral support and encouragement positively reflected on their mentality. Secondly, their commitment to the guidelines which have been given to them that concern the materials they had to study in preparation for the tournament.


It is worth mentioning that the Jordanian Mathematics Olympiad was launched by Al-Hussein Bin Talal University in 2016, and seeks to increase communication among Jordanian students in the field and to cultivate an atmosphere of true competition amongst them.
