A new center has been established at UJ that will provide an environment for innovation and creativity and work as a partner for the industry and investors for the benefit of the society and community.
The University of Jordan Innovation Center (UJIV), is a new initiative that affirms the university’s commitment towards becoming a research university. UJIV will help to integrate innovation and entrepreneurship, turning research at UJ into revenue, to enhance the economic sustainability of the university and the community.
Mainly, the innovation hub aims to provide advice and access to financial and human resources and promote the innovative work of UJ students, researchers, academics and administrators to finally achieve the “Made at UJ” concept.
“We seek to be an agent for transformation through an entrepreneurial spirit, generating innovations from the ideas that grow at the university and translating those innovations to positively impact individuals, communities, institutions, and societies.” said the center’s founding director, Professor Arwa Hamaideh.
UJIV will work to help innovators develop their creative ideas and entrepreneurial projects and turn them into business ventures, encouraging them to handle challenges differently and provide applicable solutions to finally reach a sustainable economic environment that is capable of competing globally.
“We seek to invest in the human resources of the university members and prepare all of the university community for innovative leadership and to actively support and encourage the translation of knowledge in the service of society.” Hamaideh added.
UJIV is part of the university’s strategic plan to support and enhance academic research quality and increase research production and build a productive partnership with the public and private sectors.
