UJ Ranked Among the World's Top Universities

In the World University Rankings by Subject 2018 published on Wednesday 28th, the University of Jordan (UJ) ranked among the best universities in the world in three scientific areas and four academic subjects.
 
In addition to the 46 disciplines, the ranking analysis two new subjects this year (Classics and Ancient History and Library and Information Management).
 
UJ President, Prof. Azmi Mahafzah presented the results in a special event on Thursday.
 
According to Mahafzah, UJ was listed as one of the top 500 universities in the world in the fields of Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Engineering and Technology.
 
In academic subjects, Mahafzah said that UJ ranked among the top 300 universities worldwide in pharmacy, the top 350 in mechanical engineering, and the top 500 in medicine and the computer science and information technology subject.
 
The ranking analyzes and assesses 4,522 universities throughout the world according to a number of indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, the number of citations per researcher in scientific publications, and its H index.
 
The disciplines which were included in the ranking are internationally accredited by international accreditation bodies, such as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
 
Its noteworthy that UJ has been ranked among the top 2.1% universities worldwide, and in the top 551 – 600 universities in the 2017/18 QS World University Rankings.
 
UJ also ranked in the 390th place worldwide in terms of academic reputation, and in the 267th place in terms of employer reputation.
