The School of Arts at the University of Jordan (UJ) organized on Thursday the Scientific Day of the Department of Geography.
The event included a series of lectures and discussions aimed at presenting and highlighting some pressing environmental and geographical issues.
The participants discussed several topics on geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing in environmental studies and natural resources mapping, in addition to other important contemporary geographical issues such as climate change, development, tourism, water resources and population.
During the event, the participants called for raising awareness among the general public on critical environmental challenges and the impact of population change on the environment.
Dean of the School of Arts Prof. Mohammad Qudah, in his opening address, highlighted the important role of science in society, adding that geography is one of the most important disciplines for its association with the study of the relationship between human and the environment.
