Dr. Diala Al-Tarawneh, a faculty member at the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan (UJ) and the Assistant Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at the University has won the he 2018 Tamayouz Women in Architecture and Construction Award, becoming the first Jordanian woman to win this prize out of 470 women participants from eight different countries.
This reward, which was established as part of the Excellence Award program, aimed at promoting women's participation and activating their role in society through science and work, is an annual award open to women from the Middle East and North Africa who either work in the region, specialize in architecture and construction, or work or live abroad but their contribution has directly affected the environment in the Middle East and North Africa regions.
Al-Tarawneh said that this is the first time that she has received an award, which is a worthy achievement. She pointed out her participation in international and local competitions and awards and to represent the University of Jordan in various forums, especially in fields related to women, entrepreneurship and innovation will benefit the society and its members.
It is worth mentioning that three other candidates won along with Al-Tarawneh, are from Iraq, Egypt and Palestine.
