The University of Jordan (UJ) and the Chinese Embassy in Amman on Wednesday celebrated the Chinese Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year.
UJ president Prof. Abdull karim Al-Qudah said that partaking in the Embassy's celebration confirms the strategic partnership between the two countries in all fields.
Al-Qudah added that UJ is paying great attention to the Chinese language program offered at the School of Foreign Languages, "The program is a bridge between the two cultures," he said.
Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Pan Wei Fang explained that the Chinese Spring Festival is one of the most important traditional holidays in china.
According to him, it is celebrated by the Chinese people to mark the beginning of the Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 5 this year, and denotes the meanings of love, goodness, happiness and hope.
The event, which was attended by Chinese Cultural Counselor and Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Dr. Turki Bani Khalid, included performances of Chinese folk dances and theatre acts by artists from China and students from the School.
