Dr. Maha Albqoor, a faculty member at School of Nursing at the University of Jordan (UJ), and professor of physics at the School of Science Dr. Muhammad Bqoor, designed an Electro-Spectroscopy detection system that can detect SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19 Causative Virus).

According to Albqoor, the system can detect the existence of sub-micro impurity particles in the human exhaled air, based on the unique shape, dimensions and density of these sub-micro impurities, such as viral particles, including CORONA viruses.

Albqoor told UJ news that the system electrically captures virus particles through three stages; mechanical filtering of large particles greater than the targeted viruses, and then the electrical polarization through which other smaller particles that might affect the detection signal, mainly water vapor particles, the last of which is the stage of obtaining completely clean air, in addition to the SARS-COV-2 virus, if infected, and other non-electrical polarized smaller in size particles compared to virus size.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Maha Albqoor holds an MPH in public health from the University of Jordan and PhD in Public Health Nursing, and Dr. Muhammad Bqoor holds a PhD in physics also from the University of Jordan. The scholars submitted an application to the Canadian Intellectual Property Office to register a patent for the device, which an American company is currently preparing a proposed business plan for its production.
