The University of Jordan (UJ) was ranked first locally and 22nd in the Arab world by the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings 2021, issued in July.

UJ President, Professor Abdel-Karim Al-Qudah, said in a statement that this achievement was in fulfilment of the vision of the university and will contribute to attaining the university’s comprehensive development at all levels.

In turn, Director of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Menwer Attarakih, said that UJ was distinguished among its local counterparts in education, scientific research, and international outlook criteria, whereas it ranked sixth in education and tenth in the field of scientific research on the regional level.

The Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings’ methodology is based on the same framework as the World University Rankings, with some adjustments and some new metrics to reflect the features and missions of universities in the Middle East and North Africa.

The ranking assesses Universities across all their core missions; teaching, research, society and international outlook.
