The University of Jordan (UJ) represented by Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research (HMCSR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Agriculture to cooperate in inspecting and testing imported plants for Xylella fastidiosa, one of the most harmful plant pathogenic bacteria worldwide.

The MoU was signed by the Agriculture Minister, Khalid Hunifat, and UJ President, Prof. Azmi Mahafzah.

Under the MoU the Center will conduct the required tests in its laboratories and deliver the results within ten days of receiving the samples.

The MoU stems of UJ's keenness to serve the public interest and build constructive cooperation with the Ministry.

The signing ceremony was attended by Vice President Prof. Musa Lozi, HMCSR Director Prof. Yasser K. Bustanji, and a number of senior officials at the ministry.
