The School of Nursing on Tuesday, February 28, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) to launch a new initiative aimed at promoting health awareness among students.
The initiative will be implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The MoU was signed by the School of Nursing Dean Dr. Manar Nabulsi and RHAS Director General Hanin Odeh.
The agreement aimed at educating students on a number of health related issues, including: the prevention of chronic diseases, reproductive health, smoking, violence. It also seeks to enhance their contribution in the health field by using a participatory educational apporach, train them on how to provide health education to their peers, and build their capacity to lead activities and health initiatives intended to improve community health.
Under this MoU, RHAS will be allowed to use UJ's facilities to organize its activities and lectures in cooperation with the School's faculty.
In turn, RHAS will commit itself to supporting the School by providing interactive activities, in addition to introducing an academic subject on reproductive health, and creating a health education clinic at the Deanship of Student Affairs.
Established in 2005, RHAS develops and implements public health and safety awareness programs in partnership with the public and private sectors as well as civil society organizations.
